My Cat Muffin

Muffin was one of three kittens, born to a little stray cat in a garden shed.  From the first time I saw her I knew she was mine.  Torte shell & white, she was very pretty.  She was a little nervous and lived under the couch for the first three days when she first arrived home.  But as time passed she grew  to be a lovely cat and a special friend.

I was going through a messy divorce at the time.  She was there for me all the time.  That sweet face smiling up at me to cheer me up and pick me up when I was down.  She had some health problems, bladder crystals, club feet, joined pads & claws on her front feet but it didn’t stop her from enjoying life.  She never complained.  It didn’t stop her from climbing on top of the wardrobe where she liked to sleep (her special place).  She also liked to sleep on the fish tank, to the annoyance of the fish.

I taught her a few tricks.  Like, what different words meant, hide & seek and play fetch with a toy mouse.  She fell out the window once, we lived in a second floor flat at the time and I stayed up all night to find her.  She was very alert to strange things; she would let me know if the door bell rang or if strangers were around.  She liked to travel in the car with me, either curled up on my lap or around my shoulders.

She would hiss and swear if any one came near the car.  She was taken ill suddenly and past away on the 30.January 2008, she wasn’t quite 10.  I had her cremated, her ashes and picture sit on the book shelf.  I was proud to be her friend and I loved her very much as I knew she loved me.  I miss her so very much, my special girl Muffin.
