Bobby (Boy Boy)
|
About 3 years ago, I had a call from a vets in Sidcup saying that a dog had been bought in to be put to sleep as the owners were moving to America and no longer wanted the dog. The vet nurse asked me if I would take Bobby to re-home him. I collected him from the vets. He was practically a starvation case. You could see every rib on his little body. Bobby was not a social dog when in canine company but loved every human he ever met. He had a great life, and things were going so well. Bobby had a cataract in one eye that became very bad and the eye began to deteriorate. He had an operation in November 2007 to remove the eye as it had become painful for him. I was so anxious during the operation that he wouldn't make the anaesthetic as we know he was an old boy. He had suffered a stroke at the vets and had forgotten how to eat, stand, everything. We taught him how to do everything he had forgotten and once again seemed to be back on track. |

Just before Christmas 2007 we noticed Bobby had slowed down suddenly and was no longer interested in getting out of bed. We went back to the vets and after various tests, found that he had liver failure. The vet said it was OK to take him home and that he may improve. Sadly Bobby went down hill and was loosing weight dramatically. We took him back to the vets again on Tuesday and were told it was time to let him go. My partner and I were devastated and are so sorry that we couldn't offer him a longer life with us. |
