Dogs in need of homes

Back To Main Page

If you have seen a dog on the homes needed page that you would like to adopt, please consider the following first:

Does everyone in the family want the dog? Everyone that lives in the house with the dog should be involved with the dog's wellbeing.

Please ensure that nobody in the family is allergic to dogs.

Have I got the time to give to a dog? Dogs need exercise, attention, training and feeding.

Can I afford a dog? Dogs require annual vaccinations to protect them from disease, regular worming and flea treatment, daily feeding and may require veterinary attention at some stage of their life. Many dogs also require regular visits to a dog groomer.

Can someone look after my dog should I need them to. Booking boarding kennels often needs to be arranged long before your holiday.

Does the dog I want fit into my life style? For example if you were hoping to take on a puppy, but are only prepared to go for one short walk a day, this would not be suitable. Please consider the dog’s needs before making that decision.

Max

This is Max and he is a greyhound cross.  We believe the dad was a greyhound and the mother was a whippet cross staff, (because of this tiny bit of staffie in him it has proven nearly impossible to find a rescue centre to take max in).

Max is approx 3 and half years old and is not neutered, he has been brought up with 3 children and has a good temperament.  He is also good with most other dogs with the odd exception of other entire males.

Breeze & Hope

Breeze and Hope were in a terrible condition. They were heavily underweight Breeze was 24kg and Hope was 16.5kg.  They had been found in appalling conditions in a concrete shed where it is thought they had been used for breeding (though not proven). They had no social skills at all and were panicked by the fact that they had been removed from the only environment they have ever known.

They are inseparable and thought to be related (mother and daughter). If one is out of sight the other panics. Their weight has slowly been built up a few months and they look so much better. They still have a little way to go yet but they are keen learners. Hope also loves nothing more than to play with a ball and quite happily walks around with one in her mouth most of the day.

These girls are special to us as we have seen them open up into beautiful lovely ladies.

They are approximately 5 and 6 years old.

Can you offer these two dogs the home that they deserve.

Brooke

Brooke is a really loving dog.  She can however be quite vocal when someone she doesn't know comes into the home, she's always wagging her tail but it takes her a while to approach someone.

She has been brought up in a home with 4 young children all under the age of 8 and is very patient with them, she has also been around cats and doesn't show any aggression towards them just very playful.  She isn't great with other dogs, if she passes another dog she will bark at them so some training is needed in that aspect.

She is fully house trained and loves long walks and lots of cuddles. Once settled into a new home and she has built that trust she will be the perfect dog. She is a year old now, micro chipped and injections are up to date.

Duke

Duke is a 4 year old greyhound, although he looks older as he's got some grey round his muzzle.  He is a really lovely boy who is so friendly, even with strangers, he just wants everyone to cuddle him.

He has come from a home of other dogs, he is castrated and has been well cared for. He loves his walks but gets very excited when he sees people or other dogs and he pulls on the lead and has already snapped 2 leather leads! He runs off the lead and comes back to me when theres no other dogs around but with other dogs he just wants to play.

Dave

Dave, a Staff Cross, is 10 months old and he is a very loveable dog, but very boisterous.  All Dave wants to do is play and i believe he would be suitable to be with older children or just adults. He has done some basic puppy training and will always sit for food though food is an issue for him as he will snatch food out of your hands!!!!  He loves running and will come back to his name if he is not distracted by other dogs, he does pull on the lead and he is very strong.
